Equalization is one of the most widely used tools in music production. Most of us are familiar with the concept of adjusting the balance of different frequencies to better suit our tastes or environment. Think of your car stereo, but with way more control!
Balancing the frequency content of an instrument or voice allows the engineer to alter the tone or color of the performance, while also leaving room for other elements within a piece of music.
