Kick Drum – Dynamic (Low Frequency)
There are a few important frequency areas necessary for a full kick drum sound. The main 2 being being the low end fundamental, and the high mid attack of the beater.
Both of these can be balanced together with a low frequency dynamic mic placed inside the kick drum. This placement will result in a large amount of attack, because of its proximity to the beater.
To add some extra weight to the bass of the drum, a condenser can be used outside the drum. But make sure to keep in close to the resonant skin to prevent excessive bleed from the cymbals and rest of the kit. (kick Fort)
