Today I have the pleasure of talking with Serge Courtois!
This interview with Grammy winning Mix engineer Serge Courtois explores his own AuxCord Plugin, Dolby Atmos Mixing Standards, as well as Serge’s advice for building a career in the music industry as a mix engineer for more established pop artists.
Serge is originally from Luxembourg.
He attended Berklee College of music studying production and engineering as well as performance on drums.
After attending Berklee, Serge worked as a full time engineer at Igloomusic in Burbank.
Serge worked on a few notable projects while at Igloomusic in TV (Last Resort, Califonication, Revenge), movies (Robocop, Guardians of the Galaxy) like Birdman for which he was nominated for a Grammy in mixing and sound production. Serge also worked on voice over for many big name clients like Disney, Lucasfilm, Marvel as well as several video game companies like Valve, Blizzard, and many more.
After leaving Igloomusic, Serge became a full-time self-employed mixer working remotely from Luxembourg.
Serge has since developed an app called AuxCord, and a delay plugin called Lumina.
Some notable music acts that Serge has worked with include: Nick Jonas, Twenty One Pilots, Backstreet Boys, Avril Lavigne, Liam Payne, Carly Rae Jepsen, Bebe Rexha, Alessia Cara, and many more.
