This video explores the Volt 2 desktop audio interface from Universal Audio.
The Universal Audio Volt 2 is a premium desktop audio interface at a price point that competes with other entry level soundcards.
The Volt 2 is a 2-channel audio interface that features a ‘Vintage’ preamp mode that models the tone and tube saturation of the UA LA-610 Tube preamp.
In addition to these two preamp modes, the Volt 2 features combi-jacks, an instrument mode, 48V Phantom Power for use with condenser microphones, as well as a 1/4″ headphone output.
The Volt 2 is bus powered which means it does not require a DC connection; although it does have a 5VDC to USB power cord for use with mobile devices as a way of extending the battery life of the Laptop/iPad.
In this video, you’ll see the unit unboxed, and hear A/B audio examples using the regular and Vintage preamp modes of the Volt 2.
Then we’ll take a deep dive into Room EQ Wizard to see how the Volt 2 compares to other interfaces like the Audient Evo8 and Antelope Discrete 4.
