Do you ever get nervous tracking vocals? Does your vocalist?

Being the center of attention can feel nerve racking, especially when time is a factor. You can end up recording take after take and never feel like you got ‘the one’.

Comping takes is a good safety net, but it’s always better to get the best performance possible on the way in.

What I’m going to share with you this week is a simple way to make tracking a vocalist much easier, while making them feel much more confident during the process.

A confident vocalist means a better delivery, which can ultimately lead to a better song.

In this video, I’ll share a little recording secret I learned during my time as an intern. This technique is a favorite of Peter Gabriel because it helps him track confident vocals with the freedom to experiment and perform fearlessly.
